Minutes of the Meeting
September 9, 2019
The meeting (held at Penndale Middle School, Lansdale, PA) was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Phil Christ. There were 30 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – The June minutes were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – The current Treasury balance is $4318.81
Members to report on
Charlie Olsen passed away in June following a stroke. Dave Whitmore brought in some of Charlie’s books and magazines for anyone to take.
Ray Sague is back home, getting around. He has a healthcare aide.
Welcome to new members Bruce and Joanne Tempone of Collegeville.
Events to Report on
June 15 – NPMAFC Picnic, Green Lane. Excellent attendance, excellent weather. Many thanks to grill master Perry Rogers and Ed Roth for his homemade peach ice cream. Ed Roth will book Green Lane Park for next year’s picnic.
July 4 – Al Schneider participated in the Norristown parade.
August 3 – Macungie breakfast at the Wood’s – This was the 13th year and Dave and Sue said it was the best breakfast ever. 55 people attended. Dave and Sue have volunteered to host the breakfast next summer.
Aug. 4-10 – MARC Meet, Dearborn, MI. Frank Falcone and Bob Martino attended.
Future Events
Sept. 21 – Schwenkfelder Country Fair & Car Show, 10am-3pm. Valley Forge Rd, Worcester. Arrival time 9-9:30am for cars. Music, food, auction, attic treasures and cars. Free entry and food coupon for all car entries.
September 28 - FallFest - Hatfield Borough Car Show, 3 - 7 PM (check-in 1:45 - 3 PM). $5 donation to local charity per car. See www.hatfieldborough.com for registration form.
Oct. 5 – Hatfield Township Rocktoberfest – 11 AM – 3 PM. School Road Park. Register at Hatfield Borough Hall.
Nov. 2 – Special tour of 3 Dog Garage, Boyertown (Ross Myers’ car collection - private, not open to the public) for DVR-AACA. The NPMAFC members are also invited. Notices went out to DVR members. Ken Dages is taking the reservations for DVR, cut-off date Oct. 15. If you are not a member of DVR, contact Phil Christ. Fee for the museum is $10. Dinner at Golden Oaks CC. Cost for the museum and dinner is $37.
Nov. 23 – Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade, 1 p.m. Jim Reed coordinating. Decorate car – but no Santas in the car! Lunch at the American Diner.
Dec. 7 – Souderton Christmas Parade. Barbara Gormley coordinating participation.
TBD – Garage tour for the North Penn High School Car Club members. Ken Valeri, John Posen and Ed Roth have volunteered to open their garages.
TBD – Tech session
Possible fall/spring – progressive dinner (appetizers/dinner/dessert). Attendees would be assigned specific dishes. Possible for Jan. 1 instead of car tour – to be discussed at October meeting.
Ed Roth has started doing research for a Lancaster County tour in the spring.
**The Club is looking for ideas for car tours, etc. Contact any officer with suggestions. **
Model A Restorers Club News
Mark Howard submitted an article on the Club’s activities for the September/October issue of the MARC magazine, Model “A” News. (His articles are published on the Club’s website, NPMAFC.com.)
Car Updates
Ray Bosler’s car is being repainted.
Miscellaneous
The 50/50 raffle was won by Ray Bosler.
A motion was raised at the June meeting to move the meeting start time to 7:00 p.m. A vote was taken and the start time will continue at 7:30 p.m.
Meeting dates for the remainder of 2019 are October 7, November 11, December 2. Dates for 2020 are January (no meeting), February 3, March 2, April 6, May 4 and June 1.
Refreshment list – The refreshment list will stay the same as last year. There are some members not on this sign-up; please contact Dini Vigliano. If you want to change your date, contact Dini or try to switch with someone. Refreshment list is posted on the Club website.
Tech Program
Tom Hudecki reviewed car issues/problems members had over the summer. Tom replaced the condenser on his Phaeton. Doug Emerson had problems. Take-away is to keep an extra coil and distributor in the car.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Penndale Middle School.
Refreshments for the October meeting will be provided by Earl MacIlwain, Frank Gormley, Jim Reed, Gene Yeager.
