Old Business
The artwork raffle was held at the Club picnic in June. The Watsons won. The Harleysville Jaycees have identified a wheelchair-bound veteran who needs a ramp built. The Club’s $500 donation will go toward building the ramp.
Rev. Hans Nelson from Philadelphia spoke to the Club about a Christian film he is working on. It is a period piece and he’s looking for cars from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s for the film. He would also like to have 5-6 drivers. Shooting will be in Ambler Sept. 15-17 (approx. 5 hours total). Several members spoke with him following his presentation.
Events to Report on
June 4 – Club Picnic at Green Lane – Very good turn-out. Thanks to Perry Rogers for grilling.
Aug. 4 – Breakfast at the Wood’s prior to Macungie – 55 people attended. The weather was “iffy” so people stayed longer.
Aug. 25 – Lansdale Founders Day – The parade was only 4 minutes long. New organization was running the parade.
Sept. 1 – Duryea Day, Boyertown – A few Club members attended.
Future Events
Sept. 7-9 – Hay Creek Festival – No members have signed up to participate. Bad weather predicted.
Sept. 15 – Peter Becker Community Day – Flyers available at the meeting. No cost to participate.
Sept. 15 – Schwenkfelder Country Fair and Car Show
Sept. 22 – FallFest – Hatfield Borough Car Show – 3:00-7:00 p.m. $5 donation.
Oct. 20 – Mermaid Lake. Fall driving tour, lunch at Mermaid Lake and obstacle course. If wives want to drive the Model A, this could be arranged following the obstacle course run. (Rain date Oct. 27) Carol Allen coordinating.
Car Update – New Purchases and Old Problems
Al Schneider has some 19” wheels for free.
Mike Crofton has a 1929 Phaeton that he needs some technical advice on.
Tom Hudecki discussed establishing a mentor program to assist members in working on their cars. During the event last fall to drive each other’s cars, some car problems were detected. A suggestion was made to hold “helping hands” tech session at a member’s home to help fix car problems, etc. (maybe once a month).
The November tech session at Old Forge Crossing will focus on adjusting headlights.
50/50 raffle was won by Al Schneider.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
Minutes prepared by Diane Hall
The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 1, at the Penndale Middle School.
Refreshments for October will be provided by Earl MacIlvain, Frank Gormley, Jim Reed, Gene Yeager and Charlie Olson.
