Minutes of the Meeting – October 17, 2022
The meeting, held at Trinity UCC Church, was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice President Carol Allen. There were 34 attendees.
Secretary’s Minutes – The minutes of the September 21 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – The balance in the Club account is $5287.66.
The balance in the MARC Meet account is $18,968.09. The cost of the member appreciation lunch will be paid from the Meet account.

The next meeting will be held on Monday evening, Nov. 7, at 7:00 pm at Trinity UCC Church (2009 Church Road, Skippack, PA 19474).

Members Update
- Gene Yeager (former member) sold his house in Gwynedd and will be moving into Shannondell.
- Peter Watson has been in rehab after a fall and is improving.
- Welcome to new member joining tonight, Jeff Weiss. Jeff lives in Blue Bell and has a ’29 Woodie he’s been restoring for about a year.
Future Events (NPMAFC-sponsored activities in bold)
- Oct. 22 - Harleysville Rotary Halloween Parade. The parade starts at the Indian Valley Middle School at 10:30 am. There will be a live band, “Raffle Ball Drop” and a helicopter landing. Food will be served at the end of the parade beginning at 11:30. Club members are encouraged to decorate their cars. Contact Gary Volpe (610-633-9999).
- Oct. 29 – Appreciation lunch for all North Penn and Lehigh Valley Club members – 11:00 am. The luncheon will be held at Dave and Sue Wood’s – in their newly renovated barn. The Wood’s address is 1335B North Gravel Pike, Perkiomenville, PA 18074. Follow the driveway past the veterinary practice to the house and barn at the back of the property. Please contact Diane Hall (610-896-8746; [email protected]) to sign up. Deadline for signing up is Monday, Oct. 24. Note: Dave and Sue need some help to set up tables and chairs on Thursday and Friday. Call Sue (home: 610-287-6380) to volunteer to help.
- Nov. 12 – Car tour of local senior living facilities in celebration of Veterans Day. Meet at the Worcester Elem. School at 9:30 am. Decorating cars with American flags, etc. is encouraged. Carol Allen organizing.
- Nov. 19 – Mardi Gras Parade, Lansdale, 1:00 pm. Jim Reed (215-258-9917; [email protected]) is coordinating and needs to know how many cars will participate. Holiday decorations are encouraged but no Santa Claus. Following the parade, lunch (on your own) will be held at the American Star Diner (1200 Welsh Rd, North Wales).
- Dec. 3 – Souderton Holiday Parade (North Main St & East Broad St, Souderton), 11:00 am. Line up at 9:45am. Members are encouraged to decorate their cars. Barbara Gormley (610-287-6842; [email protected]) will register the group and needs to know how many cars will participate. Lunch will follow – either by the parade organizers or at a near-by restaurant (to be decided at the Nov. 7 Club meeting).
- Jan. 8 – Holiday Party at the Bay Pony Inn – 4:00-8:00 pm. The Club is subsidizing the party; participants pay $10/person. Carl and Ellen Berlinger are running the gift exchange again this year. Gifts should be $15 minimum (no chocolate, food or used parts); crazy /deceptive wrappings make the exchange more fun. Use your imagination.

Additional Business
- Nominations for next year’s officers will be held at the Nov. 7 meeting. Candidates are needed for president, vice president and treasurer. Please seriously think about running for an office. Anyone with questions can contact Bob or Diane. The election will be held at our December meeting.
- Nominations for Special Awards (Most Spirited; Most Helpful; Rusty Wrench) will be sent to members in November, along with the dues renewal for 2023. The awards will be presented at the Holiday Party.
- Carl Berlinger would like the Club to hold a tech session “before the weather gets too cold.”
- A recommendation was made to organize another “drive each other’s cars” activity.
- A suggestion was raised to have the Club pay for lunches for those members participating in the holiday parades – since there is a large balance in the Meet account. There was some discussion and the suggestion is tabled for further discussion at the Nov. 7 meeting.
