Minutes of the Meeting
October 7, 2019
The meeting (held at Penndale Middle School, Lansdale, PA) was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Phil Christ. There were 35 members in attendance. Welcome new member Bruce Tempone to the meeting.
Secretary’s Report – The June minutes were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – The current Treasury balance is $4412.81.
Members to report on
Ray Sague is getting around. He has a healthcare aide.
Gene Yeager had a set-back.
Frank Gormley is doing okay and is back to work.
Dave Whitmore brought in a car cover for a Model A for someone to take.
Events to Report on
Sept. 21 – Schwenkfelder Country Fair & Car Show. It was packed attendance. About 75 cars. Ed Roth’s peppermint ice cream was a big hit.
September 28 - FallFest - Hatfield Borough Car Show. Jerry Watson won a trophy.
Oct. 5 – Hatfield Township Rocktoberfest. There were 35 cars. Tom Hudecki attended but didn’t know anyone. Sign-up was very difficult. No flea market, etc. Lots of activities for kids, crafts.
Future Events
Oct. 8-11 – AACA Hershey Car Show. Best days for the flea market are Thursday and Friday. Several club members have spaces: Phil Christ C3F25, Jerry Watson C3F26, Ed Roth C3F27, John Elliott CP45.
Oct. 19 – Harleysville Halloween Parade. Car line-up at 10 a.m. Contact Gary Volpe.
Oct. 26 – Tech session at Old Forge. Carol Allen will confirm date. Tom Hudecki will look into arranging driving each other’s cars during the tech session.
Nov. 2 – Special tour of 3 Dog Garage, Boyertown (Ross Myers’ car collection - private, not open to the public) for DVR-AACA. If you are not a member of DVR and interested to attending, contact Phil Christ. Cut-off date is Oct. 15. Fee for the museum is $10. Dinner at Golden Oaks CC. Cost for the museum and dinner is $37.
TBD mid-Nov. – Garage tour for the North Penn High School Car Club members. Tentatively, Ed Roth, John Posen and Bob Martino to open their garages.
Nov. 23 – Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade, 1 p.m. Theme is Holiday Wishes. Decorate car – but no Santa’s in the car! Lunch at the American Diner. Contact Jim Reed. Jim will have line-up information 2 weeks prior.
Dec. 7 – Souderton Christmas Parade. Barbara Gormley coordinating participation.
Jan. 1 – Progressive dinner (progress to 3 different houses for appetizers, dinner, dessert). Attendees would be assigned specific dishes. Need 3 hosts: Linda and Ken Valeri and Karen and Ed Roth have volunteered – need one additional host.
Jan. 5 – NPMAFC Holiday Party – 4 p.m. Bay Pony Inn
April – TBD - Ed Roth is doing research for a Lancaster County tour.
April 18, 2020 – LuLu Temple Shriners Ball fund-raiser, Plymouth Meeting. They are looking for 2 cars from the 20’s at the entrance to add atmosphere and for photo-taking.
June 13 – NPMAFC Picnic at Green Lane Park.
**The Club is looking for ideas for car tours, etc. Contact any officer with suggestions. **
Car Updates
Perry Roger’s ’57 DeSoto Firedome won the Mayor’s Choice Award at the Sept. 15 Sea Isle City Classic Car Show.
Joe Rogers brought in some tools he needed help identifying.
Miscellaneous
Election of Club officers is held at the December meeting. Ed Roth and Diane Hall have agreed to continue as Treasurer and Secretary respectively. We need a candidate for Vice President. Phil Christ will continue as President for next year but will not run a year from now, so we need a candidate.
Doug Emerson printed photos from the Club picnic. He also printed handouts from the Mercer A’s on on-board Model A tools, parts and supplies and antique car battery production. Help yourself.
The 50/50 raffle was won by Dave Wood.
Refreshment list – The refreshment sign-up for several meetings is short some people. Please contact Dini Vigliano to sign up. If you want to change your date, contact Dini or try to switch with someone. Refreshment list is posted the Club website.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Penndale Middle School.
Refreshments for the November meeting will be provided by Ed Roth, Dave Wood, Bruce Brown, Jim Dixon and Diane Hall.
