Minutes of the Meeting – May 1, 2023
The meeting, held at Trinity UCC Church, was called to order at 7:00 pm by President Carol Allen. There were 27 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Minutes – The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report – As of April 3, the balance in the Club account was $4029.40. On April 4 the MARC Meet balance of $17,147.70 was moved into the Club account for a balance of $21,152.10.
Mark Howard took over responsibility of Treasurer, effective April 17. A donation of $100 was made to the Morgan Log House, following the visit on April 22. The treasury balance is $21,020.72.
Update on Members
Mike Glass – Mike volunteered to help with Membership.He recently retired from the electric company.He has had cars since he was 16 and has taken cars down to the frame.He owns 3 Model A’s (1930 5-window coupe; 1934 Ford sedan delivery; 1929 pick-up).
Club Apparel
Barbara Gormley presented initial information on Club apparel (jacket, fleece vest, various hats, sun visor, T-shirt, etc.). She will get more information, including prices. There would be a one-time $25 set-up fee for the logo. A new club logo was discussed. More information to follow.

Show and Tell
Joe Silverman brought in a Port-a-Stat battery tester from the 1920’s. This tester could test the 3 battery cells individually, enabling replacing an individual cell as necessary. Today’s batteries are sealed, preventing testing and replacing individual cells.
Tips: Always keep a battery charged – use a trinkler charger or battery tender. Always use distilled water when adding water to the battery.

The next meeting will be held on Monday evening, June 5, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Trinity UCC Church (2009 Church Road, Skippack, PA 19474).

- April 22 – Morgan Log House Tour. A great turn-out and a beautiful day.
- May 6 – Pottsgrove Manor “Annual Colonial Mayfair” – Club participation cancelled. Visit to the manor will be rescheduled at a later date.
Future Events (NPMAFC-sponsored activities in bold)
- May 10 – North Penn High School Auto Show – 9:30 am-1:30 pm (lunch included). This is organized by the students. In the past, the club has tried to have cars from each decade.
- May 20 – Car Show at Pleasantville United Church of Christ (3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont 18914) 9am-2pm. Pre-registration $10/vehicle; day of show $15. All makes and models welcome. Spectators are free. For information, contact Jay Ogle ([email protected]; 215-527-2147)
- May 20 – Phoenixville Dogwood Festival Parade 1:00 pm. Line up: 11:30 am at New Phoenixville Civic Center, Fillmore St., Phoenixville, PA 19460. Cliff Craley would like to have club members participate in this parade. Contact Cliff ([email protected]).
- May 20 – Pennypacker Mills (5 Haldeman Road, Schwenksville 19473) – “Patriots Along the Perkiomen – The Continental Line at Pennypacker Mills” 10am-5pm
- May 29 – Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade – 10:00 am. Meet at 9:00-9:15 am at Augustus Lutheran Church (717 W. Main St, Trappe, PA 19426). Contact Howard Kriebel ASAP with your name, phone number and make/model/year of the car you will be driving in the parade. If you have a Club logo magnetic sign, please put it on your vehicle door.
- June 3 – Henry Muhlenberg House Tour (201 W. Main Street, Trappe) Tour of 3 buildings – Muhlenberg House, Speakers House and Dewees Tavern Museum
- June 15 – Car Show at The Community of Rockhill (3250 State Rd., Sellersville). 1:30-3:30 pm Contact Phil Christ for more information.
- June 17 – Club Picnic at Green Lane Park. The Club provides hot dogs, rolls and condiments and beverages. Club members bring side dishes and desserts. A sign-up sheet was passed around during the meeting.
- July 4 – Skippack Parade. Start time 11:00 am. Line up begins at 10:00 am. From the intersection of Rt. 113 and Rt. 73, take Rt.113 South about a half mile, where the driveway entrance will be on the right, directly across from Mensch Rd. Make a right into the driveway and drive down to the end where someone will direct you where to line up.
- July 29 – Gunmakers Fair at Kempton (Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton, PA) Details pending
- August 5 – Sue and Dave Wood are hosting their 18th Macungie breakfast on Saturday at 8:00 am (rain or shine). Please call Sue (on her cell) to let her know that you’re coming and what you will bring. “A mini car show before Macungie!”
- August 4, 5, 6 – Das Awkscht Fescht (Macungie) Antique & Classic Car Show. (Macungie Memorial Park, Macungie, PA)
- Sept. 29-Oct. 1 – Gettysburg Tour sponsored by the Ontelaunee Region of AACA. The tour includes the visitor’s center, a 2 hour bus tour of the battlefield, an evening ghost walk tour (optional), several other museums, a visit to the Eisenhower farm, a stop at a winery, and several nice restaurants. The cost is $250 for members and $280 for non-members. If you are planning to attend: the motel is The Inn at Cemetery Hill 613 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, 1-717-334-9281, $142 plus tax per night (group rate good until August 1). When making reservations, mention the Ontelaunee Region AACA. Questions call Barbara Koch 610-816-5586. Tom will look into adding a private battlefield tour for our club members.
- For Sale – Barbara Schneider has a 1931 coupe with rumble seat for sale. It’s very clean and runs good. Dave Whitmire has worked on it.

Misc.
- Scholarship Fund Contribution – Marv McKown looked into Williamsport’s Penn College of Technology, School of Restoration. They do have a restoration program. Marv talked with the dean and was invited for a personal visit on May 16.
- Interest was expressed in a visit to the Bulgari collection in Allentown. It’s been many years since the club has been there.
- Visit to Russ Meyers’ new facility in Boyertown in the morning and the Gen. Carl Spaatz National USAAF Museum in the afternoon.
