Minutes of the Meeting
March 5, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Phil Christ. The meeting was held at Penndale Middle School, Lansdale, PA. There were 36 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – The February minutes were read and approved as submitted.
Treasurer’s Report – Ed Roth did not attend; therefore, there was no Treasurer’s report.
Old Business
Raffle - Our club is raffling off a table and original watercolor painting to benefit two veterans. Live edge wood table handcrafted by Dave Wood. Chester County Barn watercolor painted by Carl Berlinger (17x21, double matted, framed behind conservation glass). Only 50 raffle tickets will be sold. Tickets are $5 each being sold by Jack Wright. Tickets can be purchased at our club meetings or by calling Jack (610-584-5937).
Members to report on
Frank Burke passed away in Arizona on February 24th. He had a very large car collection.
Tom Hudecki visited Dave Buehler, who has throat cancer. Dave had a garage sale and donated some items to the Club. He and his wife will move their trailer into an adult community.
Upcoming Events
March 24 – Whitpain Township Historical Society Museum Tour - The museum is located on Rt. 73, east of Center Square. Phil Christ is coordinating this tour. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Worcester School, Rt. 73, departing at 9:45 a.m. Lunch will be at the Turning Point, (Rtes. 202 & 73, Center Square).
April 7 - AACA-DVR Tour to Pennsbury Manor (William Penn’s home), Bristol. NPMAFC members invited to participate. Meet in Souderton (Rtes. 309 & 113). Approx. 1½ hours’ drive. Cost $27.50 for tour and lunch. Cut-off date March 23. Send checks to Ken Dages. Call Ken/Elsa Dages (NPMAFC members) for information.
April 14 - Spring Tech Session, 9:30 a.m., Old Forge, Lansdale
April 22 – Trexlertown Model A Ford Day Show and Swap, 9 AM – 3 PM
May 3-5 – Lancaster Tour (Multi-Day). Ed Roth coordinating.
May ? - North Penn High School Car Show, 9:00 AM - 12:45 PM, NPHS
May 28 - Memorial Day Parade, Collegeville/Trappe. Howard Kriebel coordinating. Meet at Augustus Lutheran Church. Rain date May 29.
June 9 - NPMAFC Picnic, Green Lane
June 16 – Lansdale Under the Lights Show
Date TBD - Driving tour and car games at Mermaid Lake
TBD – Driving someone else’s Model A at North Penn High School??
Mark Howard published a new member roster, sent by email. Doug Emerson printed copies distributed at the meeting. Contact Doug for additional copies of the roster.
Car Update – New Purchases and Old Problems
Howard Kriebel’s Buicks going to Pete Watson’s, then his Model A’s.
Phil Christ’s Model A at Pete Watson’s might be sold. A deposit has been received.
Frank Falcone celebrated his 1928 Ford’s 90th “birthday”, posting it on Facebook.
Bob Martino purchased an early 1928 Phaeton in November, 2017 and is working on it.
50/50 raffle was won by Gary Volpe.
Tom Hudecki gave a very informative presentation on Model A headlights, which will be the focus of the
April 14 tech session. Discussed fuse dedicated to lights, horn, brake lights. Howard Kriebel recommended checking car owner’s manual for specific information on headlights. The MARC magazine had a good article on headlight sockets. Joe Silverman offered to bring a candlepower diagnostic tool to the tech session. For the tech session, order bulbs for your car (2 + a spare).
