Minutes of the Meeting
December 4, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Phil Christ. The meeting was held at Penndale Middle School, Lansdale, PA. There were 31 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – The November minutes were read and approved as submitted.
Treasurer’s Report – The month-end balance is $4165.79. It had been approved at the November meeting that the charity fund and proceeds from the 50/50 raffles in November and December would go to supporting Clark Deardorff in his medical battle. A check for $171 covering the November 50/50 and the balance in the charity fund was sent to Volpe Enterprises. Ed’s report was approved as submitted.
Dues for 2018 are now due. A mailing was sent, including sign-up for the Holiday Party on Jan. 7, 2018. The sign-up for the Holiday Party must be received by Ed Roth no later than December 20th.
Election of officers – Officers for 2018 were elected as follows: President – Phil Christ; Vice President – Jack Wright; Treasurer – Ed Roth; Secretary – Diane Hall.
Old Business
Nov. 4 – Tech Session. Howard Kriebel’s presentation was on Model A steering. The hot dogs, etc. were made available to everyone at Old Forge, not just the NPMAFC members. Pete Watson paid for the hot dogs. Some tips were given by non-member attendees, the money going into the club treasury.
Nov. 18 – Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade. Four club members attended. There were lots of spectators. Light rain.
Dec. 2 – Souderton Parade. 16 cars participated, organized by Barbara and Frank Gormley. Lots of spectators. 40 people attended the lunch.
Nov. 26 – Switch & Drive. Tom Hudecki organized the event to test-drive other members’ Model A’s. It was held at North Penn High School. 6-7 cars participated. Everyone took turns driving each other’s cars. Georgia Dixon drove a Model A for the first time. It was a great success. It was agreed to hold another session on a Sunday in February if the forecast is for nice sunny weather (i.e., spur of the moment).
New Business
Jan. 1 – New Year’s Day. UPDATE – 12/11/17 There will be no tour. Meet for breakfast or lunch at 11:30 a.m. at the Limerick Diner (411 w. Ridge Pike, Limerick, PA 19468, Tel 610-489-3500). We need a headcount for the restaurant. If you are joining the group, please call Kathy DeHaven (215-256-6703) before Dec. 26. For those looking for a Model A run, we will gather at the Worcester School on Rt. 73 at 10am.
Jan. 7 – Holiday Party at Bay Pony Inn, 4pm. Reminder to send your money to Ed Roth before Dec. 20. There will be a gift exchange – 1 gift per person, approx. $10. Please - no candy/food or used car parts. Carl Berlinger mentioned that he and Dave Wood will not raffle off their art and wood projects at the Holiday Party, but maybe in the spring.
Upcoming Events
March – Whitpain Township tour being organized by Phil Christ. There are two museums to visit.
April – Lancaster multi-day tour being organized by Ed Roth. Possible tours to Harley Davidson factory and New Holland.
Cars for Sale
Phil Christ is downsizing - selling his Model A.
Prayers go out to Barbara and Frank Gormley and their daughter who is battling cancer.
Macungie – There is a $3 discount if you sign up before December 31. Include a return envelope for your confirmation.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Al Schneider. As previously approved, the club portion will go to Volpe Enterprises for the Clark Deardorff fund.
