Minutes of the Meeting
April 3, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Phil Christ. The meeting was held at Penndale Middle School, Lansdale, PA. There were 36 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – The March minutes were read and approved as submitted.
Treasurer’s Report – The Treasury balance, as of April 3rd, is $5075.53, including $69 for charity.
Members to report on
Gary Volpe had a heart attack shoveling snow. Two stents were put in. He is now home and resting, restricted activity to lifting 5 lb.
Frank Burke passed away in Arizona on February 24th. Visitation with the family will be held at Pleasantville UCC, 3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont on April 13 (5-7 p.m.) and 9-11 a.m. on April 14. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 14.
There is no update on Dave Buehler. His camper is not at his home; he and his wife may have moved it into an adult community.
Elsa Dages will have hip surgery on April 10.
Old Business
Raffle - Our club is raffling off a table and original watercolor painting to benefit two veterans. Live edge wood table handcrafted by Dave Wood. Chester County Barn watercolor painted by Carl Berlinger (17x21, double matted, framed behind conservation glass). Only 50 raffle tickets will be sold. Tickets are $5 each being sold by Jack Wright. Tickets can be purchased at our club meetings or by calling Jack (610-584-5937).
Events
March 24 – Whitpain Township (Wissahickon Valley Historical Society) Museum Tour – There was a good turnout of 22 people. Everyone enjoyed reviewing the memorabilia. Lunch was held at Andy’s Diner, Old Bethlehem Pike, Spring House. The historical society maintains the museum building (Whitpain Public School built in 1895) and the one-room Franklinville School on Morris Road, both on the National Register of Historic Places. There was no charge for our tour and coffee and donuts were provided. A motion to donate $100 to the historial society was presented and approved.
Upcoming Events
April 7 - AACA-DVR Tour to Pennsbury Manor (William Penn’s home), Bristol. Rain or shine. NPMAFC members invited to participate.
April 14 - Spring Tech Session, 9:30 a.m., Old Forge, Lansdale. Focus will be on lights and the electrical system.
April 22 – Trexlertown Model A Ford Day Show and Swap, (held at Goodwill Fire Co. #1-Trexlerville, 7723 Hamilton Blvd., Breiningsville, PA) 9 AM – 3 PM
May 3-5 – Lancaster Tour (Multi-Day). Ed Roth coordinating. It’s okay if you want to attend for one day – contact Ed.
May 19 – Ambler Auto Show on Butler Pike, Ambler, 1-6 p.m. Rain date May 20, 12n – 5 p.m. Awards for Best of Show, Top 50, Major Sponsors Awards
May ? - North Penn High School Car Show, 9:00 AM - 12:45 PM, NPHS
May 26 – Harleysville Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by the Rotary Club. Contact Gary Volpe for details.
May 28 - Memorial Day Parade, Collegeville/Trappe. Howard Kriebel coordinating. Meet at 9 a.m. at Augustus Lutheran Church. Rain date May 29.
June 9 - NPMAFC Picnic, Green Lane
June 16 – Lansdale Under the Lights Show
June 23 – Heidelberg UCC Church Car Show. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (1101 Cowpath Rd, Hatfield)
Date TBD - Driving tour and car games at Mermaid Lake (maybe during the summer)
TBD – Driving someone else’s Model A at North Penn High School??
Car Update – New Purchases and Old Problems
Phil Christ’s Model A has been sold to someone in Massachusetts.
Discussions
There was discussion on the North Penn High School Car Show and NPMAFC support.
Tony Russo offered to contact the Vo/Tech school about getting involved there.
Howard Kriebel briefed the club on a recent fire at Jesse James’ restoration shop in New Smithville that destroyed everything. He reminded everyone to ensure that they have adequate fire protection and insurance.
Martha Kriebel is resigning as Pastor at Trinity Church, Collegeville on April 29. NPMAFC members are invited to attend a celebration after the second service at 10:45 a.m
50/50 raffle was won by Fred Coyne.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. The next meeting will be held on May 7 at the Penndale Middle School.
