Joe Silverman gave an interesting and very informative talk on how the 4-stroke internal combustion engine works. Joe also recommends using a thicker grade of oil for a car that is burning oil.
Jay Ogle gave a very interesting presentation on Model A advertising. His brother Nance has been a past president of the club and collected literature and advertisements on Model T’s and A’s. Jay brought a good assortment of original ads from 1928-1931. The ads showed the features of the Model A, performance, safety (shatter-proof glass), the colors of the cars, etc. Many ads featured ladies in various activities – going out with friends, taking the kids in the car, etc. The ads were from a variety of publications including Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, McCall’s, Delineator, American Boy, Canadian Home Journal.
